Luke Eley in the thick of the action

Local pride was at stake this Sunday for the HFA round 4 clash, Mt Helena Lions v Mundaring Roos. Hills footy fans expected a tough contest.

The Lions had the best of things to half time, taking a hard earned 21 point lead to the main break.

The Roos dug deep after half time to reduce the deficit to a slender 9 points. The scoreboard attendant was kept busy as Mundaring made their move and the Lions seemed on the edge of panic. Hopes for Mt Helena’s first victory of the season seemed to be fading.

Rival fans enjoyed some tenacious individual performances, including Thomas Cowton (Roos) and Luke Eley (Lions) but when it looked likely Mundaring could hit the front, the Lions steadied and rallied to quash the Roos offensive.

Unfortunately for Mundaring they missed when it counted.

Mt Helena 15.10 (100) held off Mundaring 11.17 (83) for their first win of the season.

Great work guys!! Am eagerly looking forward to this write up each week! So good to see hills footy getting more exposure.

One question though, how come only round one was a video and the rest have been picture slide shows?
