It was green on green this weekend as the Mundaring Roos played at home for their HFA round 3 match up against the Pickering Brook Hawks.
It’s early days and the Hills Football Association ladder is still sorting itself out.
Both teams went in to this match winless and Hawks and Roos fans were keen to see how things are going shakeout for their sides this season.
Unfortunately for Mundaring it was mostly one way traffic. The Hawks piled on the goals while the Roos forward line remained unemployed, or abandoned their posts to flood back to try and staunch the flow.
The Roos had their moments, linking some attractive ball movement around the outside. But too often play broke down for them across half back and their attacks were thwarted and brutally countered.
The Hawks’ nimble midfielders were too fast and too good and their delivery made easy eatin’ for the gorging Hawks’ forwards.
This week the Roos meet Mt Helena Lions and there will be a lot to play for.
Mundaring Roos 4.2 (27) def. by Pickering Brook Hawks 24.14 (158)
