There is a famous rivalry building between these two sides and this ANZAC clash was going to be a tough, fiery and even bloody encounter. The Bulldogs and Cougars engaged in an old fashioned ‘stoush’ that the ‘Diggers’ themselves would have enjoyed.

Each contest up the ground was tightly fought, but it was Chidlow who were more effective on goal. With only three more shots on goal by half time, the Cougars (8.5) were on top and led the bulldogs (3.7) into the major change with a 28 point break.
